The plan was to do the Five Lakes Hike, but it turned into more of a four lake hike after the first lake was missed near Pizolhütte. Since the route is only partly circular, the day began with a steep ascent towards Wildsee.
A short but intense rain shower hit along the way, yet the colours of Wildsee made the effort feel worthwhile immediately.
At more than 2500 metres above sea level, patches of old snow still had to be crossed. Soon after the snowy section, Schottensee came into view, followed by another up and down stretch towards Schwarzsee.
After the cairns, the rest of the route led downhill, past Baschalvasee and on towards Alp Gaffia, where the hike came to an end.
