Because the weather elsewhere was not promising, more time was spent on the road and the route led to Porto. The stay was based in Vila Nova de Gaia at Canidelo Camping, with an easy connection into the city by public transport.

On arrival, large parts of the centre were fenced off, as Porto’s student celebration Queima das Fitas was taking place later that day.

Before the parade through the city, a curious ritual could be watched, with hats being placed and tapped several times with a stick. It added a special atmosphere to the day.

Porto itself felt beautiful, manageable in size and full of warmth. It seemed very likely that this would not be the last visit.
