That is also why the Five Lakes Walk only happened in July. But in the end, the wait made it feel even more special. One of the most memorable parts of the hike is the reflection of the Matterhorn in three of the five lakes along the trail.
On the way back down, there was also time for a stop at Chez Vrony, where Alain and Ilona joined for lunch. It is definitely on the expensive side, but the setting, the food, and the view of the Matterhorn make the experience feel quite special.
